Privacy Policy
Last updated July 15, 2026
This policy explains what data Fennaro handles, why, and the choices and rights you have. Fennaro is a mobile app that helps dog owners find nearby playmates for their dog.
Fennaro is built to protect your privacy. In particular, we never store or show your exact location.
01Information we handle and why
To provide the service we handle a small set of data:
- Your dog's profile: name, breed, size, photos, and play style.
- Your account: the email and sign-in details used to log in.
- Messages: the chats you send, which are only possible between two dogs that have matched.
- A coarse, fuzzed location: a rounded, offset point used to show dogs within a rough distance. Your exact address and precise coordinates are never stored, shown, or shared.
02What we do not do
We do not sell your data. We do not show your exact location to anyone; matching runs only on the fuzzed point, and other owners see an approximate distance, never your address.
You can export and delete your data from inside the app at any time.
03Your responsibility and our role
Fennaro is a platform that connects dog owners. We are not a verifier of dogs, owners, temperament, or behaviour. You are solely responsible for following local law, permits, and leash or muzzle rules where you live.
Meetups arranged through Fennaro happen at your own risk. Any safety or socialization content is informational only and is not veterinary, legal, or professional advice.
04What we cover
We provide moderation, reporting, and blocking so you can flag or stop unwanted contact. We protect your account with standard security practices and let Better Auth handle password hashing and sessions.
05Who controls your data and how to reach us
Fennaro, the operator of this site and app, is the data controller for the information described here.
For any privacy question, or to reach our data protection contact, email [email protected].
06Legal basis for processing
We process your account, profile, and message data to provide the service you asked for (performance of a contract).
We load analytics only on the basis of your consent, which you can give or refuse through the cookie banner and change at any time.
07Who we share data with
We use a small number of processors, each handling only what its function needs:
- PostHog (EU) for product analytics, only after consent.
- Neon for the database that stores your account and content.
- Upstash for rate limiting that protects the service from abuse.
- Resend for transactional email.
- Cloudflare and Cloudflare R2 for hosting, photo storage, and support email routing.
- Google for optional sign-in.
- Expo for push notifications.
08How long we keep your data
We keep your account and content while your account is active, and we delete it on request. Some records, such as moderation or incident evidence, are kept under a legal hold for a limited period so we can respond to safety reports and legal obligations, and then deleted.
We also keep encrypted backup copies of the database so your data survives a technical failure. A deleted account disappears from the app immediately, and from every backup copy within 13 months at the latest, as old backups expire automatically.
09International transfers
Some processors are incorporated in the United States. Where data leaves the European Economic Area, the transfer relies on an adequacy decision or on Standard Contractual Clauses that keep your data protected to the EU standard.
10Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, delete, and export your data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Deleting your account removes your dog profiles, photos, matches, and messages.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority: in Poland the UODO (Urząd Ochrony Danych Osobowych), and in Portugal the CNPD (Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados).
11Cookies and analytics
We use PostHog (EU) for analytics, and it loads only after you accept the cookie banner. If you reject it, no analytics loads at all and no tracking cookie is set. Your choice is stored locally on your device, not in a tracking cookie, and you can change it at any time.
